*Congratulations to our JV team who are now 2-1 after wins over Brentsville and Woodbridge. Credit goes to the boys as well as Coach Jeremy Kartel.

1) Thank you parent assistants!

The Garretts, Luttrells, Stacks, Ms. Dalton, and Carl Aanderud have worked out filming duties for JV and Varsity games this year. This is HUGE! The Stacks and Luttrells are running the press box and scoreboards for our home games. Thank you to all these families as well as those who have provided team meals so far!

2) Paperwork needed! Most players have turned in all their paperwork. I will begin speaking to the boys who owe the program anything on an individual basis. While most school / club contracts and dues have been paid, we still need meal plan funding from several players. Information attached.

3) Academic Eligibility: Students who start the season academically eligible can become ineligible based on their third marking period grades. We have stressed this to the boys in more ways than you can imagine and made every effort to allow them to study / make up work.

That being said: Eligibility is only about a 1.8 GPA. While I can appreciate many of you demand more from your sons (I know I would), please encourage your son to work with me regarding their academic situation. Please do not prohibit them from playing in a game because their grades are not up to your standards. We can work out alternative punishments.

If / when a parent decides to preclude their son from playing in a game, it alters the coaches’ game plan and the playing time for all of their teammates. I want to help you do what is best for your son; but please do not make decisions that may not only punish your son, but the other student athletes on his team.

The Varsity team travels to Woodgrove High School for a three day tournament on April 2nd, 3rd and 4th where they will face Mount Vernon HS, Madison HS, and McLean HS. Go Raiders!

1) Tryouts are here! We will have three tryout sessions as required by VHSL. Prospective players should bring all of their necessary equipment and supply their own water bottles for tryouts. Dates include:
Monday, Feb. 20th 10:00 am – noon.
Monday, Feb. 20th 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (or thereabout).
*Lunch will be provided in between Monday’s tryout sessions.
Tuesday, Feb. 21st after school – 4:00 pm

2) Blue cards and physicals needed! These are required from your sons for try-outs! Most returning varsity players and about half our JV / Freshmen have already turned in blue cards.

3) Winter TripleEdge is underway! The Varsity team crushed Chantilly 19 – 4 on Friday.

The JV’s first game is Tuesday night 6:00p at South Run.  Make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes early to checking and get your jersey.  BRING YOUR ID!

Just a heads up: internet and GPS directions to South Run can be incorrect. If you are heading south on Fairfax County Parkway, it is a RIGHT turn onto Reservation.

Varsity games: Friday nights and Saturdays

4) Fuze tryouts went well this past weekend. Congratulations to all our players who gave it a go and to those who made teams.

5) Concussion Seminars: If you and your son have not attended one of these seminars, you’ll need to do so before the season starts. PWCS has announced a few more dates.

Delivery will be Thursday, December 8 at 1:30 PM.  I need a few volunteers to help with sorting the fruit and filling orders.  If you can help, please contact Mary Mandros.  Each player will get his original order form as well as a listing of people who ordered on line.  Players will be responsible for delivering the on-line orders as well as their cash/check sales.

The fruit needs to be picked up between 2:00 and 3:00 on Thursday.  We will be on the back side of the school at the loading dock.  Please make arrangements to pick up your fruit and deliver it that day.
